I don’t disagree that it’s always better to hire a trained storyboard artist but there is a program that can do exactly what you are asking. It’s called Frameforge.com and no I am not a paid advertisement for that company but I am a Director and have often wanted to do the boards myself even thou my drawing skills are not as up to snuff as a professional board artist. Check it out. It might be useful to you.

Yes, now it's more apparent that storyboarding plays a crucial role in the process of filmmaking and create a film you visualize it to be. Plus, finding your own style is important, as it makes your films distinctive and makes​ a trademark to the audiences that this style is just your style of filmmaking.

Loved the line - "There was movement after the cut was made". We usually see the movie as whatever is happening in front of our eyes. Martin is thinking about what is not happening in front of our eyes. Beautiful.

A phrase I often use is, "Plus the boards." How can we make the shot(s) better / or the best? Storyboards are great tools but always think outside the frame.

I want to ask for some advice from the community. I really liked the advice of Martin Scrosese to draw the film shots but I'm terrible at drawing, just terrible. Could anyone recommend a software program where I can create scene characters (in a drawing style) and add additional things manually, so it will look decent for the film crew? What is the most advanced program to learn? I would really appreciate any advice on my question as I see the importance of visualization of every shot for better cooperation with other people in order to shoot a good film.

"Let them inhabit the frame" to me symbolizes the symbiotic relationship between the director and the film. You may have detailed storyboards like Mr. Scorsese, and a concrete vision of what you want, but once the camera rolls, the scripted words, lighting, actors, set, etc. coalesce to create a life of their own. The director then has to let the film "breathe" while attentively capturing the magic.
