Redeeming a Gift
How to Redeem a Gift
- Locate your MasterClass gift email from support@email.masterclass.com in your inbox.
- Click Redeem Now in the email. (We recommend using a computer or laptop. If using a mobile device, please open the link in a mobile browser—not the app.)
- You’ll be directed to the MasterClass website and prompted to Create an Account. If you already have an account, login with your existing credentials and skip the step below.
- Choose your login method—either email and password or social login (Google, Facebook, or Apple).
- Click Activate Gift.
- You’ll be prompted to add payment information for future renewals. To opt out, tap the ℹ️ button that says, Why do we ask for a credit card, then you can tap on Enter payment information later.
- Follow the remaining steps to finish setting up your MasterClass account and preferences.
🗒️ If you’re already an active MasterClass member, redeeming a gift will extend your current membership by one year—as long as your subscription was not purchased through a third-party payment provider (see below for more information).
Expiration Dates
- A free gift that is part of a Buy One, Get One promotion is redeemable within 365 days from the date of purchase.
- A paid, standalone gift that is purchased outside of a promotion has no expiration, unless otherwise noted in the terms of service.
- The subscription of the gift recipient will start on the day that they activate the membership and it cannot be paused once it is redeemed.
Redeeming a Gift and Third-Party Subscriptions (PayPal, Google, Apple, etc.)
Gifts must be redeemed through the gift email and cannot be activated through third-party app stores.
If you have an active subscription through a third party (such as PayPal, Google Play, or Apple), your gift cannot be applied to your current membership. To use the gift, you’ll need to:
- Cancel the auto-renewal of your third-party subscription.
- Wait for your current subscription to expire.
- Once expired, return to your gift email and follow the steps above to redeem your gift.
How to Opt Out of Adding a Credit Card
Under the credit card entry section, click the i icon next Why do we ask for a credit card? Then select Enter payment information later to proceed without entering a card.
Troubleshooting Gift Redemption
If you're having trouble redeeming a gift or preview group gift code, please ensure you're using a supported browser - Chrome, Safari, or Edge - on a computer or mobile browser. 📄 Internet Explorer does not work for code redemption.
If you're using a mobile browser, make sure to select Desktop Site or a similar option to stay on the web and avoid being redirected to the MasterClass app automatically.
