[MUSIC PLAYING] WAYNE GRETZKY: You don't ever know and realize as a human and as an athlete, to what extent you can go to. One of the greatest athletes who ever lived was Jesse Owens. When he won his gold medal, it was pretty remarkable what he did. But over the course of the last 80 years, if you look at how fast a person runs a 100 yard dash today compared to what he did in '36, you can see how we've grown as athletes and how we've gotten better and how we've gotten stronger. \r\n\r\n\r\nBut if you look at the mind of a horse in horse racing, in one of the fastest times ever, to this day, is still Secretariat in 1973. The nutrition that the horses get today and the training they get is better than it was in '73, but their mind hasn't changed. The mind of a human athlete has learned so much, we don't know to what extent we're going to get to, because in our minds, we believe as athletes, we're invincible. We can go better. We can get stronger. We can go faster. \r\n\r\n\r\n- Wayne Gretzky has done it again. \r\n\r\n\r\n- Signing the biggest deal in hockey history. \r\n\r\n\r\n- Gretzky is rewriting the entire NHL record book. \r\n\r\n\r\nWAYNE GRETZKY: Tastes great, Mom! \r\n\r\n\r\n- Gretzky has done the unbelievable! \r\n\r\n\r\nWAYNE GRETZKY: During this class, I'm going to teach you the athlete's mindset that my own father taught me as a youngster all the way through my career. You don't have to be a great athlete to make an athlete's mindset work for you. Having a belief in yourself is 3/4 of the battle. \r\n\r\n\r\n[MUSIC PLAYING] \r\n\r\n\r\nMy dad told me as a child that I had such a passion for the game that if I followed it, I could get to see the world. I didn't have the hardest shot. I didn't have the quickest release. But what I had was a will to want to score. \r\n\r\n\r\n- He decides to make a play. He looks. That was a score! \r\n\r\n\r\nWAYNE GRETZKY: You learn so much about life if you participate in a sport, and especially a team sport. You learn work ethic and attitude, and unselfishness and teamwork and preparation. Those are all things you're going to use in life. Hard work and commitment will take you to places that you want to go to. It's when you sit down and relax and look in the mirror and think you're better than other people is when you get into trouble. You have to make the commitment to become better than everyone else. I'm Wayne Gretzky, and this is my MasterClass.
