[MUSIC PLAYING] ROBERT REFFKIN (VOICEOVER): Kids play house all over the world. It's universal. You're just two, three, four years old, and at such an early age are dreaming about what home means. And there's a reason why, because the home is the center of people's dreams for their life. Real estate really, really matters. It's the biggest financial and emotional decision that the average person will make. Home creates stability, security, memories, dreams, and a place you can sleep in. Your place in the world. A lot of people don't know how the home buying process works. Not knowing can hold people back from getting started, or lead them to make decisions they regret. I believe it's vital that people learn the dos and don'ts of the buying and selling process so they can get to where they need to be. It's as foundational as the home itself. [MUSIC PLAYING] I have great memories growing up in Berkeley, California, and from a very early age, My mom made me a dreamer. When I was young at night, she never said, have sweet dreams. She would tuck me in bed and say, have big dreams. My mom chose to leave New York to move to Berkeley. She wanted stability that her family definitely never gave her. My mom bought a home, and she created a preschool that allowed her to raise me by herself as a single mom. I saw her as an entrepreneur my entire life, and it instilled in me this desire to create, build, dream, and be an entrepreneur myself. And so I founded Compass, a real estate technology platform. - This is an amazing story, because I love a great startup story. It's fabulous just to see the success of it. - Real estate's the largest segment of the global economy, and nobody loves it. No one loves the way things are. No agent, no buyer, no seller, no owner, no renter says, oh, my God. It was the most amazing experience. Yeah-- --no one says that, which means until that's done, there's opportunity. We were just a small group of entrepreneurs with big dreams and a tiny office in New York City and now we are the largest independent real estate brokerage firm in the country. - It sources the intelligence and the data real time as opposed to the past tense. - Compass is a real estate technology platform. The sole mission is to make real estate better for everyone, buyers, sellers, renters, and agents. I want to teach this class, because I want to help remove the barriers between you and your dream home. I want you to feel empowered and excited to take the first step.
