[MUSIC PLAYING] - We are the co-creative directors of Oscar de La Renta and the co-founders of Monse. There's something magical about being able to give someone more confidence, to feel empowered because of what we designed for them. [MUSIC PLAYING] - I love seeing people in pretty clothes, making them feel better when they're in a beautiful dress or well-made suit. I love it for myself too. PHOTOGRAPHER: Gorgeous. [MUSIC PLAYING] - And the Swarovski Award for emerging talent is Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. - My love for fashion started from as a very young kid. I was in love with the film industry. And my mother and I would watch movies, and then she would show me what the red carpets would be like for the premiers or the Oscars. That's when I started to notice that there was more to it than just a dress on a girl. And I would create a connection to that movie. So that's how I started investigating who every designer at that time was, the John Galliano's and Nicholas Ghesquiere, Albert, Tom Ford. [MUSIC PLAYING] - It was kind of natural for me to choose fashion. From a very creative family. My dad's an architect. My grandfather was an architect. My mom's parents, who babysat me all the time, they are in textiles. So they're the ones who bought me fabric, got me fashion magazines. We used to go fabric shopping together. And I remember going to fabric market to pick up fabrics when I was like four years old. So that's how it started for me. I actually never thought about doing anything else. [MUSIC PLAYING] - I have sketched since I was eight years old. I didn't think that it would be a future. My father was able to connect me to Oscar through a very loving family friend of ours. And he offered me an internship after he saw some sketches. [MUSIC PLAYING] - And when I was 18 I moved to New York to go to college. I started interning at Oscar my third year in college. I was very shy. And I didn't really get his attention first couple of months. But one of the assistants asked me to help do a little project. And Oscar was like, who is this girl? And that's how Oscar and I actually started to have conversation. [MUSIC PLAYING] It's different, so I like it. He recognized what I do. I can make clothes on my own. I don't need sample room, I didn't need any help. If I have an idea, I could create it and show him. And I think he really appreciated that. We started working together as-- I was designer, and Fernando was my intern. - This the beginning piece are the best. - We were constantly challenging each other. Even though he was my intern, he would not shy away from telling me something. - Right away, we realized that we were probably the only people in the room that were telling each other the harsh truths every single moment. And then we sort of leaned in on that. And we both kept just trying to push ourselves to make the best...
