What are we going to study in these master classes? We're going to talk about harmony, we're going to talk about melody. We're going to talk about clusters. We're going to talk about chord voicings, counter rhythms, and looking at one's own ability to develop one's own sound, and the appreciation of a more expansive view of music. I think if you can walk away with that kind of feeling, then I think these lessons will have been a success. I hope that, with this class, you might be able to walk away with a sense of wonder about possibilities of choices of your own. And I hope you walk away excited about trying new things. I can't do it for you. I'm not you. And you don't want to sound like me, you want to sound like you. So it's up to you to really take the ball from here and create the game yourself. I'm Herbie Hancock, and this is my master class.

Herbie Hancock's insight into the philosophy of music is profound and eye opening. He inspires me to try different improvisation strategies.

I was really inspired by reharmonization, influence of Ravel in harmony, particularly since I studied impressionism, discussion about technical training, and loved the transcriptions of his famous compositions, which I can study and incorporate into my own practice. Thankyou Mr Hancock

I absolutely adore Mr. Hancock. His class has a lot to unveil.

This is awesome! I thought it was just about jazz, but am so thrilled that it's about playing jazz on the keyboard!

I suppose if you were only allowed one MasterClass about JAZZ, it had better be HERBIE's! Happy to be here!

I love how he speaks about authentisity. I find it takes great courage to be willing to brake the molds at times, as you search for your own soul's truth. For me its about really listening to the music and seeing where the emotional rsonance leads me. Personally, for growth's sake, its about finding those sweet improvisations, without disruping the collective chi of the song, unless and when we all agree as a group, to stretch ourselves beyond what we thought was either allowed or acceptable. As a self taught drummer, its about intuitively knowing when to do so, and when to fall back and just hold a sacred space for others .

I Like the Jazz aspect, but is there any mode specific to bass? I'd like to get a lot better.

Many of these classes offer nothing a beginner can grasp let alone work with. The fact they ask what level you are is irrelevant as the class offers only one setting.

I had to take this MasterClaass. I don't mean I was forced, or required, to take it....I mean this is the one that I was looking for all along. I started composing about a year and a half ago, and I've dabbled in various genres. But I noticed that regardless of the genre, if I incorporated some jazz, I was on my game. I have a good feeling about this MasterClass.

Hi Mayuko, I arrived at the ninth lesson but I stopped at the eighth lesson to deepen the practice by playing the piano with piano arpeggios scales etc .. as Herbie says. I have to do a lot of exercise .... I also practice English with translating :)) now it's a little bit better;))
