In the final lesson, Diane shares her philosophy and encourages you to get started designing your brand—and your life.
I always thought that you could divide your life in three moments. The first is development, right? You develop yourself. You go to school, you learn. So development, I would say, go until 30, 35. As I grew older, I pushed that back. But development is one big moment of your life, right? Then you have the middle years, which is enjoyment, right? You enjoy the development. By the way, the enjoyment years may not be the ones you enjoy the most, but I will call it like that. And then after that, how can you call the last-- the third act? And I thought, that's the moment of fulfillment, right? Because I am on my last and third act, I want to devote myself to things that have been important to me. First of all, because of my success, I have a voice. So when you have a voice, it is very important to use your voice for people who have no voice, and also take the voices of others that you know and exchange those voices with your voices with the people with no voice and connect them. The second thing is what I am doing now-- mentoring, talking to young people, using my knowledge, using my know how, using my wisdom, and sharing it, hoping that someone can use some of it for themselves. When you get older, you realize that sharing is a privilege. Sharing is a gift, not just to the person that gets it, but to the person who gives it. I hope that you will use this class as an encouragement, as a true lesson. After having talked for hours and hours, what would I like you to remember? What would I like you to take away from this? I would like for you to go through this class, and when it's over, turn it off and say, yes, I will do it.
In her 20s, Diane Von Furstenberg convinced a textile factory owner in Italy to let her produce her first designs. With those samples, she flew to New York City to build one of the world’s most iconic and enduring fashion brands. In her first online fashion design class, Diane teaches you how to build a brand. You’ll learn how to create a visual identity, build loyalty, stay true to your vision, and launch your product.
I own a small retail business that is unrelated to the fashion industry. DVF's wisdom genuinely helped me understand how to better connect to our customers. Loved the entire series!
i could see this classes every day. i love how she is explainning all details about how be succes and happy. i would like more teachers like her.
Diane Von Furstenberg surprised me so pleasantly with this experience. She was vulnerable and I feel as though she held nothing back. By the end I was in tears as she transformed from a mentor into a generational leader speaking encouragement and challenging me in a way that felt intimate and authentic. Not at all what I expected. She has become a dear friend even if only in spirit. Thank You xo
It was extremely inspiring. I have learned to tailor my design dreams very individually and do what it right for men not anyone else.
